Announcing the Fall 2024 Community Based Grantees

We’re thrilled to announce the Fall 2024 Community Based Grant awardees! Eight charitable organizations serving Central and Northern New Mexico have been awarded a Community Based Grant award in the amount of $5,000 each. The Foundation’s Community Based Grant funding program seeks to support charitable efforts that increase access to STEM learning opportunities and raise awareness about STEM career pathways. This funding program supports operational, programmatic, and/or special event activities.

Please join us in congratulating the following organizations and their funded efforts:

  • Boys and Girls Club of Santa Fe / Las Vegas: To support the purchase of 13 Lego STEAM kits, which includes an option to use text-based coding with Python for middle school and elementary learners.
  • Del Norte LOV Foundation: To support a STEM-related career pathways scholarship for a local New Mexico resident who is enrolling in college during the Fall 2025 semester.
  • El Raton Media Works: To support Raton Intermediate School’s after-school Youth Coding League, focused on helping 5th and 6th graders develop foundational coding skills and spark an interest in technology careers.
  • Explora: To launch a Code to Career program at Mark Armijo Academy in partnership with Explora’s X Studio teen workforce development center, focused on teaching coding using Python or Scratch, block-based javascript, and other app development and management principles.
  • Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails: To support the Mad Science Extravaganza special event, focused on bridging the STEM gender gap with hands-on activities and workshops.
  • MathAmigos: To support two professional development workshops for teachers focused on delivering math educational enrichment and inspiring students to love math.
  • New Mexico Out-of-School Time Network: To support the 2nd annual New Mexico Women in STEM Summit hosted in Albuquerque, NM. The 1st Summit included a youth and STEM professional panel, strategy sessions, STEM pathway connections, and an Annual Advancing Young Women in STEM Scholarship awards.
  • STEMarts Lab: To support the continued growth and expansion of the Girls Apprenticeship and Ambassadors programs, aimed at developing science literacy and to acquire digital technology skills, such as XR, 3D modeling, and interactive design.
